Day 01: Arrives at O R Tambo. You will be met by a representative. Transfer to your hotel.Rest of the day at leisure.

 

Day 02: 08h00 Meet your Guide and drive to Cullinan for an underground diamond mine tour. The underground tour takes you around the surface, includes viewing of the previous day’s production of diamonds, view the giant cables that transport the rock from the mine up to the surface. You are taken down the mine to 763m. The guide will then lead you to other levels where you will see the tipping, crushing and hoisting of ore. (Kimberlite) You even see how the ore is transported to other levels. Visit the workshops and administration offices underground. Drive to Pretoria for a city tour. On your tour you will visit the Voortrekker Monument with its magnificent marble frieze depicting the journey to the interior of the white pioneers, historic Church Square with its imposing buildings and the magnificent Union Buildings. Set on a small hill overlooking Pretoria, this is often considered the chef d’oeuvre of architect Sir Herbert Baker and is a forerunner of the buildings he designed in New Delhi. Built in celebration of the unification of South Africa in 1910, the building houses the offices of the State President and some government ministers. Drive through lovely residential areas with beautiful homes and gardens.

Day 03: 09h30 Meet your Guide and drive to Lesedi Cultural Village which is set amongst the pristine bushveld and rocky hills, is where you can take in the sights and sounds of Africa, with tribal dancing, traditional food and many different handcrafted items.  Situated at Lesedi are four traditional homesteads – The Zulus with their fighting sticks and cosy beehive huts; The Xhosa with their perfectly thatched rondawels and distinctive white blankets; The Pedi with their rhythmic drums and whistles and The Basuto with their conical straw hats and thick, coloured blankets. After the tour enjoy the thrilling sounds of the African drum and the vigorous dancing of the different tribes. Enjoy lunch at Lesedi. Drive to Johannesburg for an afternoon of shopping.

Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 04: 08h00 Meet a representative and depart for ORT Airport. Take a flight to Kruger Park arriving in Hoedspruit. Arrive and be met by a representative. Check in. Enjoy lunch at the main dining area. In the late afternoon set off with your ranger in an open 4×4 vehicle. You may see lion, African elephant, buffalo, white rhino, giraffe, zebra and a number of antelope and bird species. Your knowledgeable ranger will keep you entertained and informed about what you are seeing. Return to lodge for dinner.

Day 05: 06h30 Early morning game drive with your ranger to view more wildlife. Return to lodge for breakfast. Spend the day at leisure. In the afternoon set off with your ranger to view more wildlife. Return for dinner.

Day 07: 06h30 Early morning game drive with your ranger to view more wildlife. Return to lodge for breakfast. 10h00 Depart for your flight to Cape Town. Arrive in Cape Town and be met by a representative, transfer to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

With its majestic Table Mountain backdrop, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Founded in 1652 by the Dutch as a revittalling station for their ships en route to and from the East Indies, Cape Town is dominated by Table Mountain, a world heritage site. A harmonious blend of architectural styles reflects the tastes and dictates of the past. Between the high-rise office blocks, Edwardian and Victorian buildings have been meticulously preserved, and many outstanding examples of Cape Dutch architecture are found. Cape Town has an endless variety of shopping options. Elegant malls, antique shops, craft markets, flea markets and art galleries abound. Gourmets and lovers of fine wine have a treat in store!

Day 08: 08h30 Meet your Guide. Enjoy a half day tour of Cape Town, often referred to as “the Mother City”. Drive along the Heerengracht and pass the Castle, the oldest European building in South Africa.  Walk through the “Company Gardens” established by the Dutch on their arrival and see the Houses of Parliament, designed by Sir Herbert Baker.  Drive to Table Mountain and, weather permitting, take a cable car ride to the top from where there are magnificent views over the city and Table Bay to the North and the peninsula to the South.  Drive through the Bo-Kaap area – sometimes referred to as “the Malay Quarter” – with its colourful 18th century dwellings then on to Green Point lighthouse, returning along the Atlantic sea front to the Waterfront, a modern development and tourist Mecca around the original harbour, with myriad shops and restaurants. Drive to Canal Walk shopping centre for some shopping. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 09: 08h00 Meet your guide and the full day excursion begins with a drive to Cape Point – drive along the Atlantic Seaboard, through Clifton, originally set out as sub economic housing and now the showcase of some of the most expensive real estate in the country!  At Hout Bay take a short cruise (±30 minutes), weather permitting, to the nearby Seal Colony; continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.  Within its confines lies Cape of Good Hope, the most south-westerly point of the continent of Africa.  Take time to visit the view point near the lighthouse.  Drive to the actual Cape Point before leaving and setting off for the return journey along the False Bay coast.  At Boulders Beach near Simonstown visit the penguin colony.  Continue to Kirstenbosch the world famous National Botanical Gardens, home to some 3000 indigenous plants.

 

Day 10: Day free with driver guide 11-7 pm.

 

Day 11: Depart Cape Town and drive to the wineland areas on your way to Hermanus, here you will stop at various farms to taste and learn about the wine making process, continue to Hermanus and check in at hotel. Spend the day at leisure with your guide driving around the coast viewing the whales.

Day 12:  The route to Knysna travels through spectacular mountain passes, vineyards and apple orchards, historic towns, mountain ranges and a semi -desert area, drive through Mossel Bay before arriving at Knysna in the afternoon. In the late afternoon take the 17:00 cruise on the Knysna Lagoon on board the John Benn.

Day 13: Drive to Oudtshoorn which is renowned as the ‘feather capital of the world’ Visit an Ostrich Farm to learn more about these fascinating, flightless birds, Drive to the famous Cango Caves and visit the first six chambers. The stalactite and stalagmite formations are an incredible sight. The Cango wildlife Ranch is famous for its cheetah conservation programme and is a highlight of the tour.

Return to hotel at the end of the day. 

 

Day 14: Free day with guide at your leisure.

Day 15: 07h00 Meet your guide and depart for George Airport. Take flight to ORT Airport. Arrive ORT airport and Meet your Guide and drive to Sun City. Check in at hotel and rest of day at leisure.

Day 16: Sun City is one of South Africa’s largest pleasure resorts. There are 4 hotels, each with its own swimming pool. There are dozens of leisure activities: for example, spend a day at the “Valley of Waves” with its palm trees and a man-made sea complete with waves and beaches. For an extra charge there is wind sailing or paragliding on the lake and other “adventure” activities. Less strenuous would be a visit to the Casino or “Entertainment Bowl” with a variety of games, and cinemas. There are 2 golf courses, (green fees are payable), a swimming pool at each hotel, an aviary and beautiful gardens.

 

Day 17: 11h00 Meet  your guide, depart Sun City and drive to ORT Airport for flight home.
